Laboratory Training from FERA

The Fera International Food Safety Training Laboratory (Fera IFSTL) was established in 2012 by the Food and Environment Research Agency (Fera), in partnership with Waters Corporation. The Fera IFSTL offers hands-on laboratory based training in fit-for-purpose analytical techniques for food safety, enabling food producing countries around the world to implement their own solutions and gain access to the opportunities offered by trade with Europe. The Fera IFSTL draws on the Agency's extensive expertise as world leaders in the application of analytical chemistry and molecular techniques to measure residues and contaminants in foods and establish food authenticity, and as the UK National Reference Laboratory for chemical contaminants in food and animal feed, pesticide residues and veterinary drug residues.

The Fera IFSTL offers a range of training courses using dedicated facilities at the Agency's world-class laboratory complex located on the Sand Hutton Applied Innovation Campus near York, UK.
We aim to create a learning experience for each course attendee that will equip them with skills that can be applied directly in the workplace. Training is delivered by a team of highly experienced staff and guest lecturers, through a stimulating mix of seminars, demonstrations and practical work using state-of-the-art analytical equipment.
